Bill Denham

Born in western Colorado, Denham was exposed to rural landscapes early in his life. As a youth he pursued his love of art by drawing the local scenery. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and when he was discharged at Long Beach he remained in southern California where he met and married his wife, Donna, in 1958. He attended Fullerton Jr. College as an art major and received an AA degree before transferring to the university of California at Long Beach as an architectural major. From 1958 to 1965 he worked as a draftsman in the plastics industry and from 1965 through 1993 he was an executive in the office furniture industry. 1993 to current he has been a full time artist.

Denham is a former president and a charter member of the Orange Art Association. Currently he is a member of the Anaheim and the Orange Art Associations. He is a supporting member of the San Diego art Museum and the Los Angeles museum of art. He has won many awards over his art career from the Orange, Anaheim and the LaHabra art associations. Also from the Newport Beach annual Art Exhibition and the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton Calif.

Denham is a serious art collector and therefore exposed to a variety of painting styles. He has collected everything from “old masters” to “meta realists”. he has a special affinity for the early California impressionists. His first California painting in his collection was a small painting by William Wendt which he purchased some 50 years ago. His own art is greatly influenced by what is in his collection. Denham’s work is held in many private and corporate collections in California, Texas, Nevada, Colorado and Utah. An extensive body of work is at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach, which include murals and paintings. He currently paints daily at his studio in Rancho Mirage.
